<stanza>
<l>Oh you who appeared to me in this desert of a world,</l>
<l>Inhabitant of the sky, passenger in these parts!</l>
<l>O you who made this dark night shine</l>
<l in="1">A ray of love in my eyes.</l>
</stanza>
<stanza>
<l>To my astonished eyes, show yourself all whole,</l>
<l>Tell me your name, your country, your destiny.</l>
<l in="1">Were you cradled here on earth?</l>
<l in="1">Or are you but a divine breath?</l>
</stanza>
<stanza>
<l>Will you see the eternal light again tomorrow?</l>
<l>Or in this place of exile, of mourning, of misery,</l>
<l>Must you still follow your troublesome path?</l>
<l>Ah! Whatever be your name, your destiny, your land,</l>
<l>Daughter of the earth, or of divine dwelling,</l>
<l in="1">Ah! Let me, all my life,</l>
<l in="1">Offer you my devotion or my love.</l>
</stanza>
<stanza>
<l>If you must, like us, complete your course,</l>
<l>Be my support, my guide, and suffer that in all places,</l>
<l>I kiss the dust of your worshipped feet,</l>
<l>But if you take your flight, and if, far from our eyes,</l>
<l>Sister of the angels, soon you will rise back up to them.</l>
<l>Having loved me some time upon the earth,</l>
<l in="1">Remember me in heaven.</l>
</stanza>
